About the Creator of Pottery with Flowers and Figures

Deana Coveney, the creative force behind Vuvu Ceramics, has been working with clay for over 30 years. Deana brings a wealth of experience from various artistic disciplines, including stained glass, mosaics, and welding.

In fact, her true passion lies in ceramics, where she finds a deeply expressive and personal medium. In addition, her work often features charming figures like foxes, owls, and frogs, as she draws inspiration from the natural beauty of leaves and flowers. The artist makes each clay pottery paint and molding with her own hands. Her efforts in painted pottery designs reflect her commitment to craftsmanship and environmental sustainability, with all her ceramics fired in solar-powered kilns.

Creation of the Unique Pottery by Deana Coveney

The artist has many ideas for painting pottery. Because she has a nature in her mind to reflect on her art. Deana Coveney creates her pottery with a hands-on approach. Her perspective ensures each piece is unique and personal.

Starting with fine stoneware clay and porcelain, she either forms her creations on the pottery wheel or sculpts them by hand. Each piece undergoes two firings in her kiln for full maturation, with some items receiving a third firing to add real 22-karat gold details.

Deana’s process is entirely manual, with no molds or mass production involved. She even grows the flowers and leaves used in her designs in her own garden! Lastly, her solar-powered electric kilns and use of non-toxic, lead-free materials highlight her commitment to environmentally friendly art.
