It is always a problem to keep the temperature stable inside of the house. In the winter we use radiators, while in the summer we get some help from air conditioners. Although we have several ways to keep the internal temperature normal, we need to find sustainable ways both for our economy and our world. Inspired by this idea, the British company Water Filled Glass found a way for energy-sufficient air conditioning with water-filled windows.

According to the records, in 100 AD Romans started to use the first glass windows. Since that time, we have been struggling with them. Because in winter, the glass cannot keep the warm air inside the room. In addition, in summer, the windows let the warm air fill the room. Therefore, we cannot maintain the temperature.

According to the studies that the scientists made, water-filled windows can provide air stabilization. We would like to briefly explain how it will happen. As you know, there are two glasses in a window frame. Each window will contain water on a vertical sheet. This water will be sealed between glasses. The sunlight will heat the water when it passes through the glass. So, you will be able to prevent the room from being too hot or too cold.

What will happen to the water?

Once the internal temperature of the water-filled window reaches a high enough level, the water inside the glass will go out through the pipes and store itself in a tank. Later, cooler water will be poured into the water-filled window. For example, when the temperature falls in the winter, the warm water waiting in the tank will come back to the window.

As there is a pumping process for filling and discharging water, there is a need for electricity. But the scientists claim that when we compare with conventional air conditioning methods, water-filled windows system required less energy.
