Reading by a pond in a garden is dreams most of us may never see come true. Few of us ever get the rare opportunity to access a natural garden filled with wonderful scents of flowers and exciting chirping of birds. Fewer people ever get the unique opportunity of sitting under the shade of a tree near a pond in a garden.
The problem most of us face, especially as nature lovers, is not the lack of time to sit with nature or money to create this time. We face a far worse problem — the lack of nature itself.
We’ve found a good solution to this problem. We found a way to make a sweet little pond in any garden at a very minimal cost that won’t break your budget. So now by following our short step by step guide below on how to make a garden pond, you can have the rare opportunity of enjoying a beautiful day in your garden close to your cool pond with the alight breeze blowing across your face.
What you’ll need?
Tools: A level, a shovel, and a scroll saw
Supplies: An old tire. Strong, garden foil (easy to buy in garden center). Sand. Gravel and pebbles. Big stones. Plants
Make sure all the tools and supplies listed above are available. Then, walk around in your garden and choose a good location where you’ll want to make. Ensure the place is flat with little amounts of sharp stones.
Dig a circular hole big enough to fit in the tire. Ensure it has a bit above ground as this will make folding the foil easier. Put some sand in the hole and use a level to make the floor perfectly flat. After leveling the floor, place the tire inside.
Using the scroll saw, carefully cut the upper part of the tire so that it is wider than the bottom.
Clean the whole inside of any sharp stone or objects before laying the tire out with the foil
You can now wrap the tire with the foil. After wrapping the whole body, you can then fill the space around the tire with gravel.
Place the big stones around the tire to prevent the foil from unwrapping itself from the tire. You can also use this stones to beautify your pond also if you decide to get creative.
Decorate and fill the pond with water the surroundings with garden plants the way you want. Congratulations, you’ve just created your Recycled Tire Pond
