He says that his inspiration comes from the people he has a chance to observe. Apparently, he also likes to communicate with people. After graduating from the university, the artist started exploring fragile materials. However, after a while, he changed his direction. Currently, he designs balloon furniture.
At First Seungjin Yang used balloons to make lightning. But we are sure that he has a great time with his balloon furniture. His furniture collection’s name is Blowing Chairs. Because most of his designs are chairs or stools. The balloon furniture collection includes backrests, arms, and legs which are in various compositions.

For example, the seating part of the stools is from a single balloon that coils around itself. The legs of the stools are supported with horizontally placed balloons.

When we start saw the balloon furniture collection, we thought about how sensitive these products are. But, after some research, we learned that the artist uses 8 layers of resin in order to keep the furniture stable and durable.

In addition, in order to coat a single resin layer, the artist waits for a half day. He gradually adds a resin layer on top of each layer. The artist states that he can complete a single stool in a week. We appreciate Seungjin Yang’s effort to complete the balloon furniture.
