Renewable alternative energy is cheaper than it used to be when the public was presented to it. Nowadays solar panels are still pleasing objects in appearance we want them to be. When we consider about photovoltaic systems spontaneously our mind goes to those large scale panels, which are so meaninglessly installed on rooftops. While the environmental effects of those panels are almost zero, their architectural effects are not the same! Therefore you should certainly think the innovative photovoltaic tiles as shown below. They are composed of slate slabs or natural clay and have compact solar panels applied to the flat side facing the sun. They are easy to build and have a pretty enough energy efficiency. Besides, there are transparent solar shingles, which have less aesthetic effects. They are weather resistant and have the same characteristics to traditional tiles, the only difference materials being: PMMA or Plexiglas, that absorbs a 90% passage of light.
