As of the 21st century, sustainability has gained great importance. Consumers are more aware of environmental issues than ever before. This encourages companies to manufacture sustainable products. And of course, vehicle manufacturers are among these companies. In the last few years, we have started hearing about the production of electric vehicles. Companies are like teams in an electric vehicle contest. The latest news is from Volkswagen. The company revealed its affordable electric vehicle, ID 2all. The budget for this car starts at USD 26,600.
VW announced the new EV during an investor event in Germany. The estimated range of ID 2all is 450 kilometers. The car looks like the Golf series that the company is famous for in many countries. During the presentation of the Volkswagen ID 2all, the company stated that the investment amount for this project will be USD 193 billion. The project includes not only EV manufacturing but also raw material and battery production as well. The aim of VW is to overtake Tesla and increase its market share. According to the critics, with this price, it is possible.
Features of ID 2all
ID 2all is just a concept right now. But VW plans to start production in 2025. The EV will be one of 10 plug-in vehicles available by 2026. Being an affordable electric vehicle, the ID 2all will also be Volkswagen’s first plug-in vehicle. It will be with front-wheel drive, unlike its competitors, which have single-motor rear or dual-motor all-wheel drive. The EV has a quick charge feature that takes approximately 20 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% battery. The ID 2all is a hatchback type with 460–1330 liters of storage space. It will depend on the seat configurations.
The exterior of ID 2all looks like the current VW Golf. But the interior is different from the other EVs of the company. The interior will be “self-explanatory,” VW said during the event. The car will have floating displays for the central infotainment system and the instrument cluster.
